Maria Bover receives a tribute from the RCNP

The president of the RCNP, and president of the Organising Committee of the Copa del Rey Mapfre, Javier Sanz, has awarded the sailor, Maria Bover of 15 years of age a conmemorative plaque in recognition to her sports achievements, specially for her last merit, bronze medal at the Opti Worlds.

The award was given at the club's terraces, during the 32 Copa del Rey Audi MAPFRE, with the assistance of the technical staff of the club, and the honoured sailor's friends and family.

Bover, twice Spanish champion, expressed her satisfaction with this bronze medal obtained at the worlds and explains that she never thought to be able to have a place on the podium, she was happy to have qualified for the Worlds, held at the Lago di Garda, Italy.

Maria has had a great success in these past years, with her team mate, Albert Torres, and now has chosen the 420 to continue her path in the sailing world.

Javier Sanz, explained how difficult it is to be amongst the first places in the Optimist class as there are more than 200.000 young sailors around the world. "We are very happy and satisfied as this is one of the club's objectives, to build Young future champions from the base and créate a good group of sailors for the club's future. Mr. Sanz also expressed his gratitude to the technical team and Maria's parents.
Pedro Marí, Maria's optimist coach, has pointed out how such a hard worker she is and her concentration out on the wáter for the past two years have helped her to obtain such a meritable cv. Pedro, concludes that he would like to keep on training and working with Maria in 420, but announces that this has not been decided yet".
