Two gold medals for Badia and Capdevila at the World Master Games

The canoeist of the RCNP, Joel Badia Ferrer and Alexis Capdevila Sastre obtained three new medals for the balearic sports the past 3rd of August during the past edition of the World Master Games (for athletes older than 30 years) held in Turin, Italy with more than 30 different olympic disciplines.

The first medal, a bronze medal by Joel Badia on a 200 meters distance won his team mate Alexis Capdevila, with a tight photo finish.

On the same day, both athletes took the gold in K4 and K2, on a distance of 200 meters, and a well deserved fifth place on a distance 1.000 metres in K2 the next day. These excellent results point out once more the good momentum the Real Club Náutico de Palma – Obra Social La Caixa, is experiencing.

These World Master Games are the equivalent to master JJOO and are held every four years. The past edition was held in 2009, in Melbourne.

The Young canoeist, Adriana Paniagua closed with a meritorious chrono of 52,88 seconds at the worlds, in the C1 200 metres women. The final offered top level with three medalists (from Bielorrusia, Ecuador and Ucrania) all with chrono registrations under the 50 seconds.

Juan Juan Barceló, Adriana's coach, points out how important her register has been due to her youth and as she is still competing in cadet category and being her first world championship. She has closed a fantastic season, winning the national championships in "track", ending second in "long distance" and silver medal at the Europeans.
