Histolab, S’Avenç and Micanga win the first leg of the regatta Palma-Formentera

Histolab of José Juan Torres in ORC-1, S’Avenç of Toni Marqués in ORC-2 and Micanga of Mateo Grimalt in ORC-4 win the first leg of the Palma-Formentera Memorial Pepe Bellver held this last weekend.

The event, organised by the Real Club Náutico de Palma and the Marina Formentera Mar, was sailed with difficult weather conditions with several light wind periods during the night.

Only 11 boats finished the 76 miles to be sailed between the bay of Palma and Formentera. The fleet arrived the next morning, on Sunday.

The fastest boat to sail the first leg has been Histolab of José Juan Torres who took 10 hours, 52 minutes and 32 seconds. Airlan-Aermec of Juan Cabrer finished in second place followed by Tris Tras Nou of Bernardino Fiol.

In ORC-2, S’Avenç of Toni Marqués won in front of Fosc of Ferran Muniesa, whilst in ORC-4 Micanga of Mateo Grimalt finished in front of Admirable of Antonio Castell.

The participating boats of this memorial regatta to one of the members of the RCNP, Pepe Bellver, will take the start to return on the 7th of September back to the Bay of Palma. Pepe Bellver, owned "Bris”, a wooden two mast boat built in Hong Kong in 1913.

A replica of this boat is the trophy handed to the winner (three times in a row)of this regatta.
