Bart Bash Regatta: the RCNP brings three gold medals in 420, Laser 4.7 and Radial

The Real Club Náutico de Palma sailors have won the Trofeo La Caixa – Bart’s Bash Regatta, held this past weekend in the bay of Palma, organised by the Club Nàutic S’Arenal.

The triumph obtained by the RCNP Team in 420, with María Bover and Margarita Alba is the result of four first places out of 5 races sailed. Second place has been for Jaume Genovard and Javier González, followed by Laura Akrich and Clara Llabrés.

Bover and Alba, seem to be the new reference in the Balearic 420 class even with their very little time sailing together. Bover a national Opti champion and bronze medal at the opti worlds, and Alba who has just finished second in the 420 europeans with her first skipper Paula Barceló.

Other representatives from the RCNP have obtained podiums during the Bart’s Bash Regatta. For example Aina Bauzá, who has won in the Laser Radial class, in front of her team mates, Maximilian Kimpel and Toni Salvà, (third and fourth). In Laser 4.7, Catherine Havenga has offered us precious results such as first place, a second and a third place, leading her to the victory.

The wind conditions proved to be very unstable in the Bay of Palma during the weekend and the organizing committee finally gave a start by two o'clock. The Bart’s Bash regatta is a multi-class event held in world wide venues in memory of the English sailor, Andrew Simpson who died in May during the past Americas Cup.
