Bover wins the regatta in Cartagena and is now favourite for the Opti nationals.

This weekend Maria Bover, the RCNP's sailor, wins the Trofeo Ciudad de Cartegena in the Opti class and heads towards the national championship in top level which will be held in the same waters at the end of June.

Bover proved to be the most prepared and regular sailor with her 21 points overall, followed by Enrique Luján, with 22 points, from the Club Náutico de Gandía. Maria, present Spanish champion, began with a first win and added two second places during this Trophy.

The Trofeo Ciudad de Cartagena gathered 70 opti sailors from Friday to Sunday. The Balearic association has been represented by María Bover, Albert Torres, Antoni Massanet, Pau González (RCNP), Marc Lladó, Jordi Julià (CN Sa Sàpita) and Aina Colom (CN S’Arenal).

The balearic representatives came back with some excellent results, altough Alberto Torres (14 place), with two first places, ended up with a disqualification in the third race. Aina Colom finished fourth overall and second in girls, Mar Lladó finished fifth and Jordi Julià seventh. Antonio Massanet (19) and Pau González (24) ccompleted the mallorcan delegation results.

Pedro Marí, the club's coach (Real Club Náutico de Palma) and responsible of the team that competed in Cartagena, is very satisfied with Maria's podium and pointed out that to have four sailors in the top ten is a good sign for the Spanish Championship preparatory.
