El RCNP sailing team wins the regional championship

The Club's sailors have won with great success in the optimist, optimist girls, laser radial women and laser 4.7 classes, during this past weekend at the Balearic Championship for dinghy classes, held in Menorca, at the Club Marítimo de Mahon.

The successful regional winner, Albert Torres, who recently won the Optimist Excellence Cup, continues to prove his potential amongst the balearic sailors.

His victory qualifies him directly to the Copa de España together with his team mates, María Bover ( girls regional champion, and third overall), Pau González (fifth place) and Toni Massanet (sixth). The RCNP opti team, is now a national and international refference after the hard work carried out by their coach, Pedro Marí, who has been able to motivate his team and take the best out of each one.

Nevertheless Joan Cardona, also a sailor of the RCNP, won the overall results in Laser 4.7. This young sailor still sails in category sub 16 and is still needing some more experience, but has proven to be a young promise. His coach, Hugo Ramón a transoceanic sailor, recomends to keep an eye on him: "he has natural qualities to become a grand sailor and a very hard worker, he will definitively become somebody important in the sailing world".

The laser coach also expressed his satisfaction with the 5 and 7 place by Christian Poulet and Toni Salvà, in Laser 4.7, and the first place in ladies of Aina Bauzá in Laser Radial class.

Manu Fraga, the techcnical director also explained that the sailing conditions have been difficult in Mahon, which adds value to these results of the RCNP's sailing team. Plenty of waves, current. shifty winds, not easy.

"We return from Mahon, very satisfied with our results"
